Opening Day - 2017

President's Lady, Barbara McIntosh opening The Green

Douglas Park Bowling Club celebrated the opening of the 2017 season on Saturday 15 April. President Charlie McIntosh welcomed all to the event. He invited, Barbara, his wife, to deliver the Jack and two bowls and declare The Green open. She did so, with an enviable bowl close to the Jack, setting the standard for the afternoon. She was then presented with a bouquet of flowers.
Ten ends were played in fine but chilly weather then all quickly retired to the warmth of the clubhouse for afternoon tea.
The game resulted in an overall win for the president led by the highest up rink team of Bill Gibson (guest from Inverkip), Jimmie Ingles and Liz Kennedy from Douglas Park. The highest up rink for the Past President's team included Joyce Henney, George Grant (guest from Fairlie) and Dan Duncan.
"Guess the Length of the Jack" competition was won by Elaine Cook and many others were lucky enough to win at least one of the generously donated raffle prizes.

We're up and running now so we ask all members to come along and support the club starting with the first game of The Aggregate on Wednesday 19 April at 2 p.m.
